Chapter 5
After Christmas was over, anything was getting back to normal. I was ready to go Sidney, we were get gonna hang out.I put on a hoodie, I had on jeans, i put my hair in a ponytail. Then there was knock at the door. I went opened the door.
“hey” Sid said
“hey”
“ready?”
“yeah”
We got to the car.
“so what are we going to do?” I asked
“i’m not sure
“okay”
“Well, Mike and them were going to get some pizza, want to meet them?”
“Sure, that's sounds good” We got to the pizza place
“Collins” Alex said
“ooh hey Alex,” I said
“I didn’t know you were coming”
“yeah, Sid got me out”
“good”
“yeah” I laughed
After we finished, and Sid was helping me in his car. .
“Hey Crosby” Sid looked up, as did I. Jason was sitting in his car.
“oh my...” I said
“What?” Sid asked
“are you ready for this weekend?”
“are you?” Sid asked
“just watch your back” Jason said, I looked at Jason, he drove away. Sid took a deep breath.
“you in?”
“yeah.” I said, popped up my chair, He was become a real pro at it. he shut my door, then put my chair in the back, and got into the driver side.
“this weekend?” I asked
‘oh, Hockey game, we play Jason team“
“oh”
“you should come”
“yeah, I like watching you play”
“okay, then we can do something after.”
“yeah.” i smiled
That weekend, my dad dropped me off at Sid’s game. I parked.
“Collins” I looked beside me. alex walked up,and sat down.
“hey, I didn’t know you were coming”
“yeah, Matt asked me to come.”
“oh” i looked at her.
“oh, why are you here Sidney asked you?”
“shut up”
“oh, you do like him?”
“shut up” i smiled
“aww”
“stop it”
“oh, look Sid coming up”
“Stop“ i laughed, I looked at the ice, Sidney skated by, he smiled, and nodded. i waved
“aww” Alex said, i just shook my head.
The game started, Sindye tooka opening face off. At the end of the first Sid’s team score and hitting started to get heavy. At the end of the second period, Sid was coming down the ice, Another one of his teammates were coming down the other side with the puck. Then a guy from Jason team took the puck.
“oh” i said, then Sid went to turn around then Jason came out of nowhere and slammed Sidney against the wall.
“ow” Alex said
“Sid” I said, He didn’t get up. I couldn’t really see anything. “oh my god.....do you see anything?” I asked.
“he getting up”
“he is?”
“yeah” i seen him get up
“oh thank god” I said, he was up but, you could tell he was hurt. He skated to the bench.Meanwhile at the other end of the ice, Jason scored
The next period, Sid came out and played. There was a lot more hitting. Sid had a couple of good hits. Then when you thought the game would go into overtime. Sid scored at the end of the period, winning the game. I throw my arms in the air. Alex jumped.
After the game, i was waiting for Sidney, Alex was waiting for Matt. Matt came out of locker room.
“see ya” Alex said
“bye”
Sid came out, this parents went up to the him. i just stayed back, and waited for them to be done.
After he was done, he parents left. He looked at me. I went up to him
“are you okay?” I asked
“yeah, i’m fine”
“thats was nasty hit” I said
“yeah, but i’m all good”
“and you won”
“yes, we did” I smiled, I laughed “ready to go?” he asked
“yeah” We got out to his car. I got in. he got in and started the car.
“Where are we going?” I asked
“you’ll see” he smiled. i smiled back, and turned and looked out the window.
We pull up the dock, that was in the middle of nowhere., it look like no one hasn’t been then forever.
“What are-”
“hold on” He said, getting out of the car. He got my chair out of back, came around, and opened my door. He helped me in my chair. I zipped up my coat.
“Come on” he said, walking towards the dock. I followed him. He looked back a couple of times to make sure i wasn’t following behind. We got side by side when we were on the dock.
“I come out here to think.
“It’s pretty out here, in it own way.” I said
“yeah, not a lot of people, know about this place.” We got to the end of the dock. Sid say down.
What are we doing here, Sid?“ I asked, he looked at me, and smiled “What?” I laughed he grabbed my hand.
“Collins” he said “I-”
“Crosby!” Someone yelled

Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Two weeks later, Christmas was coming around. It was the last day of school before Christmas break. i was in lunch. Sid sat down.
“So what are you doing for Christmas?” he asked
“Some family are coming up, and were having a Christmas eve thing, you?” I asked
“I’m not really sure yet”
“Do you want to come to my house?” I asked
“I have to what we’re doing, but yeah, maybe.” he said, I nodded
Two days later was Christmas eve. I still wasn’t sure if Sid was coming or not, but my Unlce Mike, his wife, and their three kids. Also, Sara’s mom was there. My grandmother, my aunt and I was in the living room.
“Collins, do you like it here?” Grandma asked
“yeah, it’s not too bad”
“Did you meet any friends?”
“yeah, a few people.” I said “Yeah, there this-”
“how about boyfriends?” my aunt asked
“no, no boyfriends”
“What about Sidney?” Sara asked, coming in.
“Who?” my aunt asked
“Sidney, he’s just a friend” I said
“Well you two are together alot
“yeah, we’re friends”
“the dance?”
“we--”
“what dance?” my aunt asked
“this winter dance at the school, he asked her to go.” she said, showing them pictures.
“He’s cute” my aunt said
“and he didn’t have a problem going with you.”
“No” I said
“i didn’t mean it like that.Collins”
“no he said he wanted to go with me.”
“okay, he’s not your boyfriend, do you like him?”
“I don’t--” then there was a knock on the door.
“who could that be?” Sara asked
“it might......be sideny” I said
“oh“
“i asked him to come over”
“Collins....Sidney’s here” Dad yelled
“i think that answers my question” my aunt said
“no it doesn’t” I said, leaving the room.
“hey,” I said
“hey, Merry Christmas” He asid
“Merry Christmas, you look festive” I said, touching his sweater.
“yeah, you too”
“yeah, my wanted to put lights on my chair”
“nice” we laughed.
“well do you want to meet everybody?” I asked
“Sure ” I turned, and Sidney grabbed the handles on my chair, and pushed me into the living room.
“Sid, this is my grandmother, my aunt, you know Sara, everyone this is Sid” they said Hello, my aunt was smiling at me. I tried so hard not to smiled
“you’re a very handsome young man.” Grandma said, i looked at the ground and shook my head.
“umm thank you, ma’am” Sid said
A little bit later, the guys came in.
“Well who is this?” grandpa asked
“this is Sidney, Grandpa” I said
“Hello, Sir nice to meet you” He put his hand out. , he shook his hand.
“Boyfriend?” Grandpa asked
“what? umm no no just friends” I said, trying not to look at Sidney.
“okay, Sidney is there any sports you play?” grandpa asked
“yeah, baseball and Hockey, but i’m more into hockey”
“It is cananda” he said, i smiled
“true” Sidney said
“do you want something to drink?” I asked Sidney
“Sure” I turned around
“I’ll help” he said, pushing me in the kitchen.
“hey, i’m sorry about them, they can be overbearing and loud.” I said
“not as noisy as my family.” we smiled
We got something to drink.sid sat down at the table.
“So...”I said
“I have something for you” Sid said
“What?”
“hold on” he said, walking away. he came back in with a box.
“I wasn’t sure if i was going to give this to you tonight, I kept it outside just in case, so here” he handed it to me.
“Sidney, you didn’t have-”
“I know, I wanted to”
“but i didn’t get you anything”
“i don’t care, open it.”
I looked at him, and ripped the paper off.
“it’s kinda dumb” he said
I open the box. it was a leather notebook, with my name on it. i smiled
“it’s not dumb at all”
“i know you like to write, and you can take this out when you run out of paper, and put more in.”
“i love it, thank you”
“your welcome” I looked down, his hand was on my knee. I put hand on his. I pulled him into a hug.
“thank you”
“your welcome”
“are you - Oh umm are you two ready to eat?” Sara said, Sid let of me, and back up. “did I?”
“no” i said
“umm I gotta get going” Sid said, I looked at him.
“Sidney” i said
“no, really there are people over my house.”
“oh”
“yeah, umm Merry Christmas Sara”
“Merry Christmas, Sidney”
“I’m gonna tell everyone, goodbye” Sid said, and walked away. i put the box on the table.
“i’m sorry”
“no, nothing happen” I rolled into the hallway. Sidney was coming out the living room.He grabbed his coat. I looked at him.
“So, i’ll see you later” he said
“yeah”
“bye”
“thank you”
“you’re welcome” he said “bye”
“bye” i said, he walked out the door. I put my head down. I turned around went in the dining room. everyone was in the kitchen. I grabbed my gift off the table, put it on my lap and went to my room. I put it on my bed.
“Collins” Dad poked his head, “are you okay?”
“yeah, I was just putting this away.”
“What is that?” he asked
“Sidney, got me a gift,a leather notebook, with my name on it.”
“thats nice”
“yeah”
you coming to eat?“
“yeah” I Turned around. he pushed me into the kitchen.
“do you need help?” Dad asked
“nah, I got it” I got my plate. I stopped i start thinking about Sidney. He had his hand on my knee , i can’t feel it, it makes me wonder if he done it any other times. As I finished getting my plate. I heard dad and my grandparents talking.
“Where’s Collins?” grandma asked
“getting her plate”
“does she need help.?”
“no she’s fine”
“is she okay?”
“mom, she’s fine”
“I worry about her”
“everyone does”
“She such a loner” grandma said
“Well it’s kinda hard for her to make friends”
“you know what she needs a good boyfriend.” i smiled
“mom, seventeen she doesn’t need a boyfriend”
“I just think if she maybe had a boyfriend, she would be more comfortable with herself” she said
really Grandma? i thought to myself.
“mom” dad said, I put my plate on my lap, and went in the dining room.
“What are you talking about?” I asked, playing dumb
“oh nothing Grandma said
“oh grandma I am comfortable with myself, yeah it might take me longer to go thing, or meet people , and yeah i might only have a few friends right now, but i’m okay with that.” I said
“i’m sorry” grandma said
“it’s okay”
After we finished eating. we talked for awhile, my cousins ran around chasing each other. Later that night. I got into bed. Dad poked his head in the my room
“are you okay? do you need anything?” he asked
“yeah, and no i’m fine”
“okay, honey goodnight”
“goodnight” I said, after he left and shut the door.I grabbed the notebook, Sidney give me, and a pen, and I started to write

Chapter 3

Chapter 3
The next week, we were in homeroom. Sid and I were talking. When this girl walked in, and started talking about a winter dance. She started passing out forms. She came to sidney.
“you don’t need a couples from, you always go by yourself.”
“just because I don’t want to go with you doesn’t mean I don’t want to go with someone else.” He said, She started walking away.”hey” she turned around, and he grabbed a paper out of her hand. I laughed “hey do you want to go?” he asked, is stopped laughing, and looked at him.
“What?” I asked
“do you want to go?” I just looked at him.
“umm, Sid you’re not gonna have fun with me, i can’t-- ”
“No!” I looked at him. “you and I can go have fun, dance, laugh, eat.” I smiled at him “So?”
“I don’t --”
“Come on,” he grabbed my hand, i looked at our hands. ” you can get all dressed up” i look back at him. He raised his eyebrows
“okay”
“really?”
“yeah”
“good, i think we’ll have fun” he squeezed my hand, and let go. I smiled
I got that day, I put my bag on the table.
“Collins”
“hi Sara”
“you okay?” she said, she walked out of the kitchen
“yeah, i’m great” I smiled “umm..could help me with something?
“sure”
“can you help me found a dress for this winter dance at school?”
“your going to a a dance?”
“yeah....ahh Sidney asked me to go with him”
“he did”
“yeah, he did” I smiled
“you’re blushing”
“no i’m not”I said
“yes you are”
“Will you help me?” I asked
“yes, of course i’ll help you”
“thank you”
“let’s go” she said
“now?”
“why not?”
“umm okay”
“come one” she grabbed her keys
“okay” I followed her
We were at the store. i tried on a few dresses, and I was getting really tired. I was about to give up. When I found this purple dress with a black band around the middle. I tried ir on. I loved it. It was so pretty.
“it’s beautiful, Collins”
“you like it?”
“yes...is this the one?”
“yes” I smiled
We got something to eat, and went home.
“Dad” I yelled
“hey, Where have you two been?” He came out of living room.
“Shopping” i said
“are you going to tell him?” Sara asked
“tell me what?”
“your daughter is going to her first high school dance.” Sara said, I smiled
“What?” Dad looked at me.
“yeah, Sidney asked me to go.”
“really?” I nodded “good, about time you get out there.” He smiled
Next week, Sidney came over to do some homework.
“right in there” i said, showing him into my bedroom.”Do you want anything to drink?”
“no, i’m fine thanks”
“okay” We went in my room. I went and got my books out. I turned back around. Sidney was looking in one of my notebook. “What are you doing?” I asked
“nothing, are those songs or poems?”
“there nothing”
“Come on what are they?”
“nothing”
“come on” he touched my side, I jumped
“Someone ticklish”
“no”
“then tell me” he touched my sides again, and started tickling me.
“Sid Stop” I laughed
“tell me”
“No” i laughed “okay, okay, not really sure what they are something pops into my head, and i write it down.”I heard someone clear their thost. Sid turned around, i looked up. My Dad was standing there “Dad” i said, fixing myself in my chair. “dad this is Sidney, Sidney this is my dad”
“Mr.daines, it’s nice to meet you” Sidney said, putting his hand out. Dad shook it
“so you’re taking her to the dance?”
“yes,sir”
“okay, what are you two doing?” Dad asked
“Studying” i said
“it didn’t look like that.”
“we are, I promise”
“Okay” he smiled, and walked out of my room.
“So, you just write things” Sid picked up my notebook, i grabbed it out of his hand.
“yes”
“okay, you don’t want to talk about them.” he smiled ”this your dress” he pointed to the bag hanging on my closet door.
“yeah”
“can i see?”
“no”
“what not?”
“because i want to wait, don’t you want to be surprised, come lets study.”
“okay” he said
Next week, i was getting ready for the dance, get finished my hair, and makeup, Sara helped me into my dress.
“What time did Sid say he was coming?” Sara asked
“five” I said
“you look beautiful, Collins”
“maybe this is a bad idea” i said
“what? why?”
“i don’t know, i just think it a bad idea.”
“Collins it is not! you are beautiful, and this chair is just a part of you, don’t like it hold you back.” I looked at Sara, then was a knock at the door.
“he’s early”
“It’s five” Sara said “Do you want me to get it?”
“no, I can get it.”
“Collins, Do you want me to get it?” dad asked
“no, dad” I said, I went out of my room
“Wow, my little girl is not so little”
“Dad”
“No, you look beautiful”
“thanks” I smiled, Sidney knocked again. I opened the door.Sidney was standing there with a black suit on with a purple tie, holding about five white roses.He smiled
“Hi” I said
“Hi” he said
“Come on in” i said, backing up. He walked in.
“you look great.”
“thanks, so do you”
“thanks, umm these are for you” he handed me the flowers. “and my mom said you have to put this on me.” he said holding up a white rose that goes on his jacket.
“Okay” I took it out of his hand. “Come here” i smiled, he kneel down.I start trying to pin it on him. Then Sara started pictures, Sid and I started laughing. I finally got it on him. Then we were on our way to there.
We were sitting at the table. I looked at him
“let’s dance” he said
“What?”I said
“dance”
“are you should you want to?” I asked
“I asked you didn’t I” I said, got up and pushed me out o the dance floor. I smiled
“Collins!” Matt yelled I laughed. everyone was screaming ,and dancing. About three songs in Sidney got his knees. I smiled, we danced, laughed, and sang the lyrics to each other. He grabbed my hands. I smiled, and looked at him.
“what?” he asked, in my ear
“thank you”
“for what?”
“Asking me” i said, are facing where only a couple of inches away from each other.
“you have to thank me for anything, I wanted to go with you.” I smiled, we stared each other. then the song changed to a slow song.
“umm” he looked at down.”I need a drink, you?”
“ahh yeah” i said
“okay,” he stood, and we went back to the table. I watched him go up, and get us something to drink. i have no idea, what happen out there. we were really close to each other, and nothing.
Later that night, the dance was coming to the end, and started playing a slow song. I looked out at the dance floor
“you okay?” Sid asked
“yeah” i looked at him
“come on” he said,
“what?”
“come with me” he put my coat on my shoulder. He started pushing me. i put on my coat.
“where are we going?” We went outside, He propped open the door.
“Can you hear the music?”he asked
“yeah, Sid what are we doing?” i asked, he didn’t answer me. HE looked at me, and smiled, and bent down, and wrapped his arms around me, and picked me up “Sid, what are you doing?” I asked
“slow dancing” he looked at me, I wrapped my arms around his neck. he started rocking back and forth ”I see the way you were looking the dance floor, when they play a slow song.” I nodded. I put my face into his neck. i didn’t know if i should smile, and or cry this was sweetest anyone has ever done for me.
“Collins”
“yeah?”
“you look beautiful tonight.” he said.
“thank you” I said. wrapped my arms tighter. I was falling for him that was it.

“just because I don’t want to go with you doesn’t mean I don’t want to go with someone else.” He said, She started walking away.”hey” she turned around, and he grabbed a paper out of her hand. I laughed “hey do you want to go?” he asked, is stopped laughing, and looked at him.
“What?” I asked
“do you want to go?” I just looked at him.
“umm, Sid you’re not gonna have fun with me, i can’t-- ”
“No!” I looked at him. “you and I can go have fun, dance, laugh, eat.” I smiled at him “So?”
“I don’t --”
“Come on,” he grabbed my hand, i looked at our hands. ” you can get all dressed up” i look back at him. He raised his eyebrows
“okay”
“really?”
“yeah”
“good, i think we’ll have fun” he squeezed my hand, and let go. I smiled
I got that day, I put my bag on the table.
“Collins”
“hi Sara”
“you okay?” she said, she walked out of the kitchen
“yeah, i’m great” I smiled “umm..could help me with something?
“sure”
“can you help me found a dress for this winter dance at school?”
“your going to a a dance?”
“yeah....ahh Sidney asked me to go with him”
“he did”
“yeah, he did” I smiled
“you’re blushing”
“no i’m not”I said
“yes you are”
“Will you help me?” I asked
“yes, of course i’ll help you”
“thank you”
“let’s go” she said
“now?”
“why not?”
“umm okay”
“come one” she grabbed her keys
“okay” I followed her
We were at the store. i tried on a few dresses, and I was getting really tired. I was about to give up. When I found this purple dress with a black band around the middle. I tried ir on. I loved it. It was so pretty.
“it’s beautiful, Collins”
“you like it?”
“yes...is this the one?”
“yes” I smiled
We got something to eat, and went home.
“Dad” I yelled
“hey, Where have you two been?” He came out of living room.
“Shopping” i said
“are you going to tell him?” Sara asked
“tell me what?”
“your daughter is going to her first high school dance.” Sara said, I smiled
“What?” Dad looked at me.
“yeah, Sidney asked me to go.”
“really?” I nodded “good, about time you get out there.” He smiled
Next week, Sidney came over to do some homework.
“right in there” i said, showing him into my bedroom.”Do you want anything to drink?”
“no, i’m fine thanks”
“okay” We went in my room. I went and got my books out. I turned back around. Sidney was looking in one of my notebook. “What are you doing?” I asked
“nothing, are those songs or poems?”
“there nothing”
“Come on what are they?”
“nothing”
“come on” he touched my side, I jumped
“Someone ticklish”
“no”
“then tell me” he touched my sides again, and started tickling me.
“Sid Stop” I laughed
“tell me”
“No” i laughed “okay, okay, not really sure what they are something pops into my head, and i write it down.”I heard someone clear their thost. Sid turned around, i looked up. My Dad was standing there “Dad” i said, fixing myself in my chair. “dad this is Sidney, Sidney this is my dad”
“Mr.daines, it’s nice to meet you” Sidney said, putting his hand out. Dad shook it
“so you’re taking her to the dance?”
“yes,sir”
“okay, what are you two doing?” Dad asked
“Studying” i said
“it didn’t look like that.”
“we are, I promise”
“Okay” he smiled, and walked out of my room.
“So, you just write things” Sid picked up my notebook, i grabbed it out of his hand.
“yes”
“okay, you don’t want to talk about them.” he smiled ”this your dress” he pointed to the bag hanging on my closet door.
“yeah”
“can i see?”
“no”
“what not?”
“because i want to wait, don’t you want to be surprised, come lets study.”
“okay” he said
Next week, i was getting ready for the dance, get finished my hair, and makeup, Sara helped me into my dress.
“What time did Sid say he was coming?” Sara asked
“five” I said
“you look beautiful, Collins”
“maybe this is a bad idea” i said
“what? why?”
“i don’t know, i just think it a bad idea.”
“Collins it is not! you are beautiful, and this chair is just a part of you, don’t like it hold you back.” I looked at Sara, then was a knock at the door.
“he’s early”
“It’s five” Sara said “Do you want me to get it?”
“no, I can get it.”
“Collins, Do you want me to get it?” dad asked
“no, dad” I said, I went out of my room
“Wow, my little girl is not so little”
“Dad”
“No, you look beautiful”
“thanks” I smiled, Sidney knocked again. I opened the door.Sidney was standing there with a black suit on with a purple tie, holding about five white roses.He smiled
“Hi” I said
“Hi” he said
“Come on in” i said, backing up. He walked in.
“you look great.”
“thanks, so do you”
“thanks, umm these are for you” he handed me the flowers. “and my mom said you have to put this on me.” he said holding up a white rose that goes on his jacket.
“Okay” I took it out of his hand. “Come here” i smiled, he kneel down.I start trying to pin it on him. Then Sara started pictures, Sid and I started laughing. I finally got it on him. Then we were on our way to there.
We were sitting at the table. I looked at him
“let’s dance” he said
“What?”I said
“dance”
“are you should you want to?” I asked
“I asked you didn’t I” I said, got up and pushed me out o the dance floor. I smiled
“Collins!” Matt yelled I laughed. everyone was screaming ,and dancing. About three songs in Sidney got his knees. I smiled, we danced, laughed, and sang the lyrics to each other. He grabbed my hands. I smiled, and looked at him.
“what?” he asked, in my ear
“thank you”
“for what?”
“Asking me” i said, are facing where only a couple of inches away from each other.
“you have to thank me for anything, I wanted to go with you.” I smiled, we stared each other. then the song changed to a slow song.
“umm” he looked at down.”I need a drink, you?”
“ahh yeah” i said
“okay,” he stood, and we went back to the table. I watched him go up, and get us something to drink. i have no idea, what happen out there. we were really close to each other, and nothing.
Later that night, the dance was coming to the end, and started playing a slow song. I looked out at the dance floor
“you okay?” Sid asked
“yeah” i looked at him
“come on” he said,
“what?”
“come with me” he put my coat on my shoulder. He started pushing me. i put on my coat.
“where are we going?” We went outside, He propped open the door.
“Can you hear the music?”he asked
“yeah, Sid what are we doing?” i asked, he didn’t answer me. HE looked at me, and smiled, and bent down, and wrapped his arms around me, and picked me up “Sid, what are you doing?” I asked
“slow dancing” he looked at me, I wrapped my arms around his neck. he started rocking back and forth ”I see the way you were looking the dance floor, when they play a slow song.” I nodded. I put my face into his neck. i didn’t know if i should smile, and or cry this was sweetest anyone has ever done for me.
“Collins”
“yeah?”
“you look beautiful tonight.” he said.
“thank you” I said. wrapped my arms tighter. I was falling for him that was it.
