Chapter 2
The week went on,Sidney ended up being in my homeroom too.
We were sitting at lunch, I was talking to Sidney, and then someone kicked my chair. I looked behind me, it was the jerk, I found out his name was Jason. He had a cockiness about him,He thinks he better than everyone else. I looked at Sid. He shook his head, and then the bell rang. I started going to next period.
“Excuse me” I said, as Jason stood in front of me. He looked at me, and went back to laughing with his friends. “Excuse me” I said, again. then Sid came out of nowhere ,and stood in front of me.
“She said excuse me”
“Oh Hey Crosby,working on hat slap shot?” Jason aked, patting Sid chest.
“can you just please get out of her?”
“oh yeah, the crippled”
“don’t call her that.”
“What are you going to do?” he asked,stepping closer to Sid
“nothing, just don’t call her that.”
“really” he pushed Sid
“dude, not here” Sid said
“come on” he pushed him again. then again. Sid turned and looked at me. I shook my head. Sid grabbed him, and pushed
“Sid stop” I said, Jason pushed Sid off of him. “come on” I said, I rolled passed Jason, when i felt a bump
“damn it” he said
“Collins” Sidney laughed
“I got to play on saturday”
“opps” I said, I looked Sid he laughed at me. I shrugged my shoulder.
Sidney and I were sitting in the next period, taking notes. I looked at Sidney, He rolled his eyes. I smiled. then someone come on over com
“Sidney Crosby, and Collins Daines please report to the main office.” I looked at Sid, he got up.I followed him out of the room.
“I wondered if they called my dad?” I asked
“yeah, I know mine will flip.”
“I’ve only been here a week”
We got to the office.
“Mr.Crosby” the principal said, came in “Did you push Jason?”
“Yes, because he he kept pushing me.”
“What happened?”
We told him the whole story.
“Miss. Daines, did you run over his foot?”
“yes, sir” I put my head down
“Why?”
“i don’t know”
“your dads are on their way.”
“great” Sid said, the principal went to leave.
“are Jason parents coming too?” Sid said
“yes, they are” he said
“My dad is going to kill me”
“My dad, i have no idea what he will do, i never do anything like this...i’m sorry” I said
“it’s okay, he should have never said what he said”
“Sidney Patrick Crosby” this guy came into the room, must have been his dad.
“Dad”
“you’re in here for fighting”
“Dad, I wasn’t fighting, we just pushed each other”
“Collins Elizabeth”
“Dad” i said
“you’ve been here a week, and i’m getting called to the principal office”
“Dad”
“Okay, Mr Daines, Mr Crosby” The principal walked back in,
We told our dads what happen
“You run over his foot?”
“Dad”
“you better not get in trouble for this”. Mr Crosby said “you have a tournament, this weekend”
“Dad i’ll be fine, for this weekend”
“they’re not in trouble , we just need to know this won’t happen again.”
“it won’t happen again” i said
“yeah, it won’t” Sid said
“okay”
“you’re lucky, we’ll talking about this when you get home.”
“Same here, Collins I got to get back to work”
“okay” they got up/
“Kids” Sidney dad said
“Kids Kids are better, teenagers are worse.” Dad said, i looked at Sid, he shook his head.
“you two can go to class” We were going back to class
“I didn’t even think it was that bad” Sid said
“yeah, it not like he lost toes.” Sid laughed
“yeah, Collins Elizabeth”
“Sidney Patrick“ I laughed
I got home later the day.
“i heard you dad had to go to the school”
“yeah” I said, then dad walked in “Dad”
“Collins,
“it’s not that bad”
“you ran over a boy foot”
“you what?” Sara laughed
“and it wasn’t an accident, you meant to do it.”
“Dad, you weren’t there all week he been a jerk”
“so you ran him over?”
“yeah” i said, Dad took a deep breath
“go to your room”
“fine”I said, and went to my room
The next morning, I got to bus stop, Sidney wasn’t too far behind me.
“Did you get grounded?” I asked
“no....you?”
“nope”
“get yelled at?” I asked
“yeah, you?”
“yupp, my dad got and kept saying you ran him over, ran him over” I said, he laughed
“I can’t believe you did that.”
“He had to stop talking about me.” Sid laughed
I was the end of the day. i am in class and Jason was in there I felt someone kicked my chair. I rolled my eyes, and looked behind me.
“you better tell your boyfriend to watch his back” Jason said
“he’s not my boyfriend”
“anyways tell him” he said, and walked away.
Two weeks, later me and Sidney we talk everyday in school. I was really starting to like it here. i was making some great friends. I was going to class with Alex.
“So you and Sid have been talking a lot.” Alex said
“yeah”
“So could there be feeling?”
“what?” I asked
“do you like him?”
“no, i’ve only known him for three weeks.”
“so, do you like him?”
“no, i don’t”
“speaking of look whos waiting for you.” She said, looked at my locker, and Sidney was leaning against the lockers.
“hey” I said
“hey” I got in my locker. i was trying to get my bag off the back of my chair.
“here I got it.”
“thanks”
“Hey, i was thinking..”
“oh, great” I said, smiling at him.
“funny” he said, putting my bag back on the back of my chair. “but anyway I have a game this weekend”
“yeah”
“I wanted to know, if you want to go?”
“mmm, yeah, maybe i got to ask my dad”
“okay,, yeah umm okay” He said, i smiled at him. He looked at nervous, but this might be really good for me, i really haven’t out of the house since, i moved here.
That weekend, I was going to Sid’s game. my dad came with me. We were at the Arena. My dad was sitting behind me.
“What’s his number?” dad asked
“I don’t know”
“you don’t know”
“No” I laughed, I was looking up the ice, then i heard banging i looked in front of me. Sid was hitting the glass, he waved, i waved back
“wait for me” he mouthed “after the game” he pointed to the corner. i smiled, and nodded, he skated off
After the game, I waited for most of the people to leave. then i made my way over to where sid said to meet him. Sid and them won. a little later, Sid came out of the locker room. He was talking to his Dad. After he was done he turned around.
“hey” he said
“hey”
“thanks for coming”
“anytimes”
“Sid, you coming?” One of his friends said
“yeah, i’ll be there” he said “We’re going out for pizza and stuff, do you want to come?”
“ahmmm, i don’t know, i’m here with my dad, and my..”
“go” I looked behind me, my dad was standing there, “go have fun be a teenager”
“What do you say?” Sid asked
“........Sure”
“good” dad said “bye” he walked out.
“Come on” Sid said We got to the parking lot.
“hey...umm you’re really good“
“thanks, i try” he laughed
“Sid, Dude i get shot gun” Mike said
“your driving”
“yeah, are you scared?”
“no” I laughed
“you’re not getting shot gun, Collins”
“oh alright” Sid opened the door.
“Do you need help?”
“yeah, I think your car kinda high”
“okay, what do I need to do? he asked
”umm” i put my hand on the seat. He put his arms around me, and lifted me in the car.
“thanks” I said
“yupp, you all good”
“yeah”
“how do i do this?” he pointed to my chair
“oh yeah, put your hand there and there.” he did “Okay, and just pop up” he did “there you go” I closed the door. he put put it in the back. i felt really awkward in the car with him and his friends.
We got to the pizza place. He helped me out. His friends already went in.
“Sorry” i said
“Stop saying sorry”
“but your fri-”
“but nothing, there nothing to be sorry about” Sid smiled
We were sitting at the table. i was talking to Matt. he was so funny. I was having a good time.
“having fun?” Sid asked
“yeah”
After we took everyone home.We were sitting in front of my house
“So you had fun?” he asked
“yeah, I did I haven’t been out of the house in a long time.”
”i don’t think, i have seen you laugh so hard since I met you.”
“yeah?” I smiled
“yeah” he smiled back
We talked, and talked, and talked. When i finally realized that we have been out here for an hour.
“well umm I should get inside.”
“oh yeah..okay” he said, he got out got my chair, helped me into my chair. He walked into the door. with me.
“so i’ll see ya” I said
”yeah,”
“okay, bye”
“bye” he said, and he turned around.

Chapter 1
A/N: Here's chapter 1. I hope everyone likes, and i hope I don't disappoint anyone! please comment!
Chapter 1
It’s my first day of school in a new country, I was scared to death, changing high schools, in the middle of high school, i was never something that i thought was going to happen, but my dad, got a really good job here in Cole harbour. I’m not like most seventeen years old girl. I’m in a wheelchair, i’m paralyzed from the waist down. It’s only my dad, me, and Sara. Sara is something like a nanny to me, well more when i was younger, she helps me when i need it, she been with us pretty my whole life. She lives with us, when my dad told her we were moving to canada, she was more than happy to come with us. I love having her around, so does my dad. She is the closest person i have to a friend, not counting my dog Riley. My dad is great, he’s been there for me through everything. he’s hard working, caring, never gives up, only want the best for me. My mom on the other hand, she left when I was only three. I never knew her, and now at seventeen, i don’t know if I ever want to meet her.
I was finally getting myself out of bed. I did my hair, and make-up, and started getting dress.
“Collins, are you up?” Dad yelled
“yes” I yelled. then there was a knocked at my door.
“Collins, it’s me, do you need any help?” Sara asked
“yes, please” i said, she walked in, she helped me with my pants. I fixed myself in my chair.
“there we go, you all good.?” she asked
“yes, thank you”
“you’re welcome” she walked out. I grabbed a shirt, and put it on, i looked in the mirror, and took a deep breath. ‘you’re okay’ i thought. I turned around, and rolled out the kitchen, not before Riley sat in front of me.
“Riley, move” I said, he just looked at me. “Riley”
“Riley, get out of her way” Dad said
“Ri” then he jumped on my lap “oh boy” he started licking my face. I laughed “Riley” I petted him. “okay, get down” i snapped my finger, He jumped down. I rolled to the table. Dad was reading the paper.Sara was in the kitchen. Dad lower the paper, and looked at me.
“you look nice.” he said
“thanks” I smiled
“Do you want something to eat?” he asked
“ummm.....no, i’m too nervous.” I said
“you’re gonna be fine”
“i hope so”
“you are, Do you want me to drive to school, or you can ride the bus they got thing for the wheelchair.” i said
“can you drive? I can ride the bus home”
“yeah” he said “you ready to go now?”
“yeah, let me get my bag” I said
”okay i’ll meet you outside.”
I got my bag, and went out to the car. i slide into the car.
“need help?” dad asked
“nope got it.”
“okay.” he said, grabbing my chair, and folding it up and putting it in the back.
We pulled in front of the school. My stomach was in knots, i was trying to catch my breath. There was a lot of people walking around, They were already looking at me. i haven’t even got out of the car yet.
“are you going to be okay?” Dad asked
“they’re already staring” I said
“you’re new”
“I know, but I haven’t even got the chair out yet.”
“look at me” i looked at him. “you’re a beautiful young lady, you’re a smart, kind, sweet, caring, Strong person, you’re going to be fine.”
“you’re my dad, you have to say that” I said
“but i mean it, you’re gonna be fine” he said “ready?”
I didn’t say anything, i just turned my head, and looked out the window.
“okay” He got out of the car, got my chair, came around. He knocked on the window. I opened the door
“you got to go this”
“bring it to me” He helped me in.
“here ya go” He handed me my bag. i turned to face the school. few people were looking at me. “do you want me to go with you?”
“as much as I want to say, ‘yes’, No, I got to do this.” I smiled
“Okay, I’ll see you when I get home.”.
“yeah”
“good luck” he said
“thanks” I said
He got into the car, and drove off. I took a deep breath. I was going up to the school, i went up the ramp. I got the looks, and the points. I got in the school, and found the main office.
“oh, you must be Collins”
“yes, i am”
“hi, i’m Miss. Adams”
“hi”
“i’m goi’ng to show you around during homeroom, show you where all the wheelchair ramps, and elevators are, then take you to your first period”
“Okay, thanks” I said
After showing me around, the school, and showing me everything was. She took me to first period. which was honor stats. When I came in there was only a couple of people in the room. The teacher said ‘HI’ and told me what desk i could have. I was in the first row in the last desk, more and more people came in. The dark haired boy coem in a sat in front of me.
“Okay, class clam down.” the teacher said “We have a new student” ‘oh god’ i thought “her name is Collins” everyone turned around, and looked at me, i smiled
Class went on, When we were done for the day. I started putting my stuff away. The boy in front of me turned around.
“hey” he said
“hi” i smiled
“I’m Sidney, but you can call me Sid”
“umm... I’m Collins”
“pretty.”
“thanks”
“So where you move from?”
“Pittsburgh”
“oh, you’re far from home”
“yeah, my dad got a job up here.”
“nice”
“yeah”
“you like it so far?”
“it’s not, i haven’t got to see that much of the town, but i have seen very pretty.”
“it is, have you been to the harbour yet?” he asked
“no, i haven’t”
“well we’re gonna have to go something”
“i’d like that.”
“cool, maybe i can show you around town sometime”
“sure, but umm can you tell....where Lab Cham with Miss. Clark is?”
“yes, i’m going there next too, i’ll walk you.” He said, i don’t think he knows i’m in this chair, and he’s being really nice.
“great” I smiled, as the bell rang, he got up, and started walking.
“Sid, you coming?” some guy yelled
“i’ll meet up with you later.” he said. I was trying to get a chair out of my way. He turned around
“do you h-- Oh sorry....I....I didn’t know”
“It’s okay” i smiled, he moved the chair
“thanks” i said, we started for class.
“So what......umm..are you.....how....umm where?”
“I’m paralyzed from the waist down” I said
“oh” he looked down

“how long?”
“just about four years”
“it really has been that long.” he said
“it hasn’t”
“umm well here we are”

“no problem at all.” He let me go first. We went in, and all i could think about was I might of had friend, and now i might not. i rolled in a desk behind Sidney again. Sid sat down. he was very quiet.
“Okay class, we’re gonna start labs, today i’m gonna let you choose your own partner.” she said, she started reading the list. she got to Sidney
“Sid, who do you want to be you partner?” she asked
“ahmmmm” he looked at me
“Sid” one of his friends said, I didn’t want him to pick me, but maybe if he did, that means he doesn’t care i’m in this chair.
“Collins” he said
“Collins, are you okay with that?” she asked, i nodded.
After she went through the list. We started the lesson. I was sitting at a desk, Sid was sitting at the lab table.next me.I looked up at him.
“thank you” I said
“for what?” he asked
“for picking me”
“oh, it’s no problem” Sid said, walking over, grabbing a chair, and sitting at the same desk as me. I smiled at him.
I had a couple more classes, then it was lunch. I got my tray, i put it on my lap. i was looking for a table. when Sid up beside me
“hey” he said
“hi”
“come sit with us.”
“are you sure?”
“yeah, come on” he said, i followed him. he sat down.there was a lot of people already at the table.
“this is NIc, and his girlfriend Rachel”
“hi” they said, and looked at each other.
“and this is Mike, Nat. and Matt”
“hey” I said
“guys, this is Collins"
“hey”
“so how your day going so far?”
“good”
“have you met anybody else?” Matt asked
“yeah, this girl name Alex”
“Alex, I know her” Sid said
“She seems really funny” i said
“she is, i’m gonna marry her one day” Matt said
“She wants nothing to do with you” Sid said
“one day” she said, I laughed
We sat there ate, talked, they were great people, they were really funny, i could stop laughing. We finished eating.
“you done?” Sid asked
“yeah”
“do you want me to take your tray?” he asked
“no, I got it” I back up, i ran into someone. “Oh, i’m sorry” I said, turning my head.
“Watch it crippled.” He said
I just put my head down, and I heard Sid mumble something
“What?” I asked
“Nothing, don’t listen to him, he’s the biggest jerk in school” I nodded “Want to go up” he asked
“yeah” We got back to the table
“What do you have next? Sid asked, “I got my got my schedule“
“I got history with--"
“Mr.Ben”
“yes”
“me too” he said, i smiled
The rest of the day, Sidney and I, had two more classed. the end of the day. i went to find my bud. it had the wheelchair lift. I was watching everyone get on the bus, then Sid got on.
“hey” he said “you weren’t on this morning” he said
“No, i wasn’t”
We got off at the same stop.
“where do you live?” he asked
“right there.” I pointed to my house
“I live around the corner.”
“nice”
“looks like i can walk down any time to give you that tour.”
“yeah” I smiled, We went up the road.
“Collins” he said “if you don’t mind me asking, what happened?”
“umm...I was thirteen, and I got into a car accident”
“Wow”
“yeah, i’m okay now, i’m used to it.” Sidney nodded
“umm does it hurt?”
“no, i can’t feel anything” i laughed’
“oh yeah, sorry”
“no, it’s okay, i get uncomfortable.”

“yeah” i said, we stopped in front of my house.
“I gotta get going, i have hockey practice”

“yeah” he smiled

“Do you have need help getting inside?

“in the kitchen” I went into the kitchen
“how was school?”
“it was Okay, I got some homework, so i’ll tell you and dad at dinner.”

“hey, i didn’t know you were home
“yeah, just a few minutes ago, are you ready for dinner? it’s done”
“yeah.” i put on my books back in my backpack.
We were all at the table.
“How was school?”
“Okay, minus the stares, whispers. looks, and jokes it was okay”
“What happened?”
“just the normal crippled jokes”
“did you met anybody?” Dad asked “make any friends?”
“yes few people, there was this girl named Alex, she seemed nice”
“What about that boy, you were talking to? When you got off the bus”
“you were watching me?”
“Well I saw the bus go by, and wanted to see if you were coming and you were talking to that boy for awhile, then he walked up the road.
”yeah, he’s name is Sidney, he was the first one to talk to me”

“yeah, this girl name Alex”
“Alex, I know her” Sid said
“She seems really funny” i said
“she is, i’m gonna marry her one day” Matt said
“She wants nothing to do with you” Sid said
“one day” she said, I laughed
We sat there ate, talked, they were great people, they were really funny, i could stop laughing. We finished eating.
“you done?” Sid asked
“yeah”
“do you want me to take your tray?” he asked
“no, I got it” I back up, i ran into someone. “Oh, i’m sorry” I said, turning my head.
“Watch it crippled.” He said
I just put my head down, and I heard Sid mumble something
“What?” I asked
“Nothing, don’t listen to him, he’s the biggest jerk in school” I nodded “Want to go up” he asked
“yeah” We got back to the table
“What do you have next? Sid asked, “I got my got my schedule“
“I got history with--"
“Mr.Ben”
“yes”
“me too” he said, i smiled
The rest of the day, Sidney and I, had two more classed. the end of the day. i went to find my bud. it had the wheelchair lift. I was watching everyone get on the bus, then Sid got on.
“hey” he said “you weren’t on this morning” he said
“No, i wasn’t”
We got off at the same stop.
“where do you live?” he asked
“right there.” I pointed to my house
“I live around the corner.”
“nice”
“looks like i can walk down any time to give you that tour.”
“yeah” I smiled, We went up the road.
“Collins” he said “if you don’t mind me asking, what happened?”
“umm...I was thirteen, and I got into a car accident”
“Wow”
“yeah, i’m okay now, i’m used to it.” Sidney nodded
“umm does it hurt?”
“no, i can’t feel anything” i laughed’
“oh yeah, sorry”
“no, it’s okay, i get uncomfortable.”
“yeah?”
“yeah” i said, we stopped in front of my house.
“I gotta get going, i have hockey practice”
“Hockey?”
“yeah” he smiled
“okay”
“Do you have need help getting inside?
“no, thanks”
“okay, see ya tomorrow”
“see ya” I got in the house.
“Sara” I yelled
“in the kitchen” I went into the kitchen
“how was school?”
“it was Okay, I got some homework, so i’ll tell you and dad at dinner.”
“Okay” I was finishing up my homework
“Collins” my dad poked his head in my room.
“hey, i didn’t know you were home
“yeah, just a few minutes ago, are you ready for dinner? it’s done”
“yeah.” i put on my books back in my backpack.
We were all at the table.
“How was school?”
“Okay, minus the stares, whispers. looks, and jokes it was okay”
“What happened?”
“just the normal crippled jokes”
“did you met anybody?” Dad asked “make any friends?”
“yes few people, there was this girl named Alex, she seemed nice”
“What about that boy, you were talking to? When you got off the bus”
“you were watching me?”
“Well I saw the bus go by, and wanted to see if you were coming and you were talking to that boy for awhile, then he walked up the road.
”yeah, he’s name is Sidney, he was the first one to talk to me”
“well, at least you found someone”
“yeah”

Unbroken: Preview
It’s my first day of school in a new country, I was scared to death, changing high schools, in the middle of high school, i was never something that i thought was going to happen, but my dad, got a really good job here in Cole harbour. I’m not like most seventeen years old girl. I’m in a wheelchair, i’m paralyzed from the waist down. It’s only my dad, me, and Sara. Sara is something like a nanny to me, well more when i was younger, she helps me when i need it, she been with us pretty my whole life. She lives with us, when my dad told her we were moving to Canada, she was more than happy to come with us. I love having her around, so does my dad. She is the closest person i have to a friend, not counting my dog Riley. My dad is great, he’s been there for me through everything. he’s hard working, caring, never gives up, only want the best for me. My mom on the other hand, she left when I was only three. I never knew her, and now at seventeen, i don’t know if I ever want to meet her.
